Stand by Me Mentoring Program
Picture yourself making a difference..
and making a friend The Stand by Me Volunteer Mentor Program is a combined project of the Mono County Families in Partnership Program, the Office of Education, and Partners in Community Wellness.
The program was initiated in 1998 to help support children throughout our community. Program goals include increasing social development, academic performance, community building, and cultural awareness as well as introducing the students to new activities and career opportunities.
The Stand by Me mentors and students are matched based upon common interests, and the pair meets weekly either individually or with other mentor-student pairs. The Stand by Me Volunteer Mentor Program coordinates monthly activities for all participants such as potlucks, ice-skating events, bowling outings, hiking excursions and much more. |
